A group of scientists finds a giant, black, rectangle-shaped monolith inside a crater on the martian surface. Soon after hearing the strange sound coming from the monolith they all get mad and aggressive and split into two groups. Now they are battling each other to death without a reason. The only thing they know is that the monolith will help them if they show enough respect...

As some of you may have guessed this map is a tribute to \"Odyssee 2001\", one of the greatest science fiction masterpieces of our time. The movie directed by Stanley Kubrick based on the book with the same name by Arthur C. Clarke tells how a first contact between man and an alien intelligence may look like. No green, big-headed dwarfs, no ufos. Just a big black monolith shaped into the ratios 1 to 4 to 9.

There is a scene at the beginning of the movie that actually inspired me to do this map. A tribe of man-apes finds a giant black monolith somewhere in the deserts of Africa. The monolith has the power to increase these apes\' intelligence and they learn the usage of tools. The first tool they use is a bone and they use it as a weapon to beat apes of the enemy tribe to death. Now I thought if you replace the apes by people in miner-suits and the bones by high-tech weaponary you can easily transfer this methaphor for man\'s self- extinction into a fun CTF-map. =)

Gameplay-wise I tried to balance sniping/close combat areas and also make enough use of Geo-Mod. Enjoy.
