STORY:

Absinthe is a flavored distilled liquor which has mild hallucinogenic properties due to the presence of the chemical thujon derived from the wormwood plant. Absinthe became extremely popular in the latter part of the 19th century and the early part of the 20th century. It inspired many prominent artists, writers and poets. Just to name a few - Vincent Van Gogh, Oscar Wilde, Manet, Ernest Hemingway, Baudelaire, Rimbaud, Velaine, and Gaugin. The emerald green color of the liquor gave rise to its nickname as "the green fairy." Absinthe was banned in europe and the United States as part of the alcohol prohibition movements.

When prohibition was repealed years later, absinthe remained banned due to the thujon content. In recent years, some countries in europe have re-legalized absinthe under strict controls. The traditional way to consume absinthe is to slowly drip water over a sugar cube suspended on an absinthe spoon over a cup containing absinthe. The water melts the sugar cube and when the mixture hits the absinthe it turns the emerald green liquid milky white.

MAP:

This is an arena style map with 3 levels surrounding a giant absinthe rig (cup, spoon, sugar and dripping water). The textures on the wall are all taken from pro or anti-absinthe artwork from the early part of the 20th century. The layout is simple but players making their way inside the absinthe cup wil find that they have a dominant killing position over the whole arena.
