Upon my inspection of the safety of this abandoned Ultor facility nicknamed "Abrupt Decay" by the staff that used to run it, I unfortunately noticed more problems than I hoped for.
Walking around this properly named "Abrupt Decay" we can see many safety issues right off the bat. -We have high balconies and catwalks with no railings. This is an accident waiting to happen. Any fall from these heights will almost certainly cause severe injury or even death, unless someone has figured out how to fall without any damage. -At at least 2 separate instances I noticed 2 exposed electrical wires that were live when tested and you could even hear the humming of the energy. All it takes is someone grabbing a live wire and it could result in death from the victim not being able to "let go" of a live wire. -There are many crates scattered through the facility with what seems to be no order to them. Some are in the way on the floor and others are tipped over with the orientation arrows not pointing up. I was unable to inspect the contents of any crates since none of them seemed to open when I told my hands to open them. Weird. -Coming from America I have a strong love for firearms and think everyone should be able to own any firearm they want, but the complete disregard to firearm safety and storage at this facility is beyond even me. It's something you would see in a video game. At lease 20 different completely loaded firearms of varying types are littered on the ground and walkways and even the proper ammunition is present. -In addition to the unchecked firearm problem, I saw by all accounts what seem to be completely functional explosives including, grenades, a rocket launcher and even plastic explosives and detonator. All of these items should have been removed prior to the facility being abandoned. -Also present was some structural damage to the walls in what could be load bearing. If not repaired soon the whole facility could be in danger of structural failure and collapse. -There are a couple lifts that will take you from the ground floor to the upper floors, but when these lifts rise, there is no safety device to stop a person from walking underneath one of them while it is descending. Yet another opportunity for negligent death. -A large bay door seems to be stuck and if someone were crawling underneath it, according to Murphy's law, that's the time it would fail and crush the person. I personally didn't have to worry about this since I can't seem to get into a prone position for some reason. -A point of relief I witnessed was the abundance of medical kits scattering the facility. It is my recommendation that this facility "Abrupt Decay" remain closed until all the aforementioned liability risks are corrected. No one under the age of 18 should be permitted to step foot on the facility grounds. |
