The RF Toolkit is a collection of standalone utilities and 3ds max plugins used to create content for Red Faction (PC version). These are some of the same tools used by the team at Volition.
All 3ds Max plugins are for 3ds Max release 4.x or 5.0. They will not work in earlier or later versions of Max.

Included Tools:
RFBone
A MAX modifier plugin. Used to "rig" character meshes with bones, animate and export them. This plugin requires the Biped component of Character Studio.
V3DExporter
A MAX exporter plugin. Used to create static (non-animating) meshes for use in the RED level editor (clutter, powerups, etc).
VFXExporter
A MAX exporter plugin. Used to create visual effects files for use in Red Faction.
VParticle
A MAX particle emitter plugin. Used to create particle systems for use inside VFX effects files.
VBMImporter
A MAX bitmap import plugin. Allows MAX to read VBM bitmap files created with the MakeVBM utility. Useful when making VFX files with animating maps.
MVFReduce
A standalone utility used to compress MVF animations exported from RFBone.
MakeVBM
A utility used to create single- or multiple-frame VBM bitmap files. These can be used in many areas of RF.
FontTool2
A utility used to create a VF font file from a TGA bitmap.
CCrunch
A multi-purpose data conversion utility. Takes many exported data files and strips them down into game-ready formats.
