Wow. Just, wow.
Ok so before we get too excited, let's look at the the gameplay . The layout of Corporate Palace is good if somewhat maze-like. It took me a few rounds to get my bearings, but once I understood the layout, the map became very navigable. It's a large map, probably suitable for 5v5 or 6v6 gameplay, but even at those player counts, you can expect to get lost for quite a while until you get a handle on the routes. I find the map very similar to Grey Matter (dm17) in that way - it's not actually that complicated, it's just very daunting at first. Ok, so that's the gameplay. Now, let's talk about the visuals - that's where this map really shines. All things considered, I'm pretty confident in saying Corporate Palace is the best looking map I've ever seen in this game. I'm not kidding. The attention to detail is astounding, especially in the brushwork. kerpal has done a far better job of exploring the "Corporate HQ" theme than Volition ever did. Seriously, it's impeccable. I can't do it justice in this review, I really can't. Do yourself a favor and load this map up right now and have a look around it yourself. You'll see what I mean. I think from my perspective the most impressive aspect of this map is kerpal's incredible ability to utilize textures in unconventional ways. As an example, in multiple cases he uses careful UV unwrapping with specific elements of wall textures for trim. It's really awesome to see, and it shows just how comfortable he is with the editor. This map really is a work of art, and I'm really excited to see what kerpal comes up with in the future. Great work! |

Undoubtely a map where you might get lost but the arhitecture of this is just... Eye-candy. I don't know what to say more, it feels like you're really in a king's palace.
