This map appears to be all or most of Disc 1 from the game Metal Gear Solid, which was released for the original PlayStation in the late 1990s. The map is a nice piece of art and the author seems to have done a good job. I do think some of the regions in the map could've been turned into a DeathMatch map with things added to it, since I think overall the game play aspect of this map isn't that great, but it definitely is cool and worth checking out.
When I loaded the map up, I was impressed with the amount of detail replicated from the original game in some of the areas of the map. I was surprised/impressed this map even included the 2 big posters in the area where you battle Gray Fox. However, I did notice that the Heliport area is missing the surveillance cameras from the original game. Also it contains the two posts made of glass on the 2nd floor of the Heliport area but lacks the 2 surveillance lights (lamps) inside/within the glass that are supposed to flash across the heliport landing site. Overall, I can easily say, I'm really glad I downloaded this map and tried it out. I think to fully appreciate this map, you gotta have played the original game. There is a version of Metal Gear Solid available on GOG. |

On game night, I had no idea what was in store for us for this map. When we began playing it, I was completely blown away at how close this was designed to the original MGS. I was also blown away by the technical things put into this map as well. I have never seen an event system as complex as this one but it actually paid off with all the hard work and effort put into this to get it working. Vel worked exceptionally hard on this map and it turned out Exceptional!
A few rounds on both sides is needed to help you understand how it works. Then it becomes extremely fun to play. Good job Vel! |

Have to play a few times to get the hang of this map, on game night the first game was ok but a few people were confused (I had a head start from beta testing it). But the second time around was a fun packed event as more people had a better understanding of how to play it and where to go. Bare in mind its not often assault maps are played in general and that is evident throughout red factions history so it was alien to some players. 2nd game we had was so much fun and full of laughter its a pity you wasn't there.
If you could place lights to doors/elevators that would light up when that stage is ready to advance from; this should give players a better sense of direction. I took a grenade to the face... thanks Spike |

Wow Vel, I don't think there's ever been a custom RF map quite like this before. The experience just felt so refreshing overall. I think the gameplay is what stood out the most for me. the time frame between the objectives and just anticipating where the attacking team might funnel into the base, it kinda reminded of Killing Floor where you have to outlast enemy waves with the exceptions of objectives to defend. The weapon load outs before spawning into the map was very smart and worked seamlessly. Also liked waiting time before everyone loaded into the server before the game started, good way to get everyone into the game at once.
Visuals and aesthetics were undeniably outstanding. The screen cut with original title screen of the game and the way the music was sequenced into the map was just beautiful. Texturing and geometry is so faithful to original game that it's kind of enchanting. Solid work man, you're absolutely courageous for making a map at this scale and I can't wait to see where you take things from here. |

What i loved about it is the old-school aesthetic visuals of the level layouts. Playing this with a big amount of players was just so wild in defending or destroying crystals. After watching your progress few times on Discord, it was what i expected to play like. An amazing assault map, Vel.

Incredible work on this map, Vel!
This assault map is a technical marvel and visually it's nothing short of a work of art. The gameplay is way more complex and intricate than any other map I've ever seen in this game - it does take a few minutes to get a handle on everything that's going on, but once you get it, it's incredibly fun. I highly, highly recommend this map - just be sure you play at least 2 rounds so you get to see it from both perspectives |
