Zed was an unfinished CTF map that RED-FROG originally built for his awesome
Eko 1.0 mod. I've always loved this map and thought it could be fun in the base game, so here it is!
Aside from porting it from Eko to the base game, here are the handful of changes I've made to the map:
- Removed Eko specific items (like the bow pickup)
- Added additional weapons, ammo, health, and armor to base
- Adjusted lower tunnels so they're symmetrical
- Added small central room as meeting point for lower tunnels
- Added team color direction indicators to tunnels to assist with navigation
- Added health kits and ammo to tunnels
- Added items to center of the map - Fusion, Grenades, and Super Armor respectively, from top to bottom
- Slightly adjusted positions of spawn points
- Reduced particle count to improve framerate
- Added blue metal texture to wall decor in blue base (red was already done)
- Added lights to mid (original was entirely unlit)
- Shortened mid slighly
- Resolved some minor texturing and layering bugs present in the original
- Applied lighting trick
