Just to let anyone interested in modding know, i've now put a rather comprehensive two-page tutorial on getting started with RFG modding on the RFG Modding Wiki: http://rfgmodding.factionfiles.com/index.php?title=Your_First_Mod
It comes in two flavours, NORMAL for the absolute beginners, and ADVANCED for those who are more proficient with windows, and browsing, and editing BAT files.
The tutorial is designed so that instead of finding bits of information on various pages throughout the internet, you can find almost everything in one place. The tutorial will take you from absolute beginner, to having made a mod with the following SINGLEPLAYER changes:
Quote:
"What YOU'RE going to do within that time is:
>> Learn how to use the PACK and UNPACK tools, and the quickest way to do so.
>> Unpack a data archive
>> Modify the remote charge weapon to be MUCH more powerful
>> Unmodify them because the above change was rather silly. But make them fly further.
>> Lower the prices for remote-charge-slots, and make the final slot upgrade worth waiting for.
>> Get yourself an army!
>> Make a new explosion!
>> Make bullets damage buildings via that new explosion
>> Make the rocket launcher have a pretty epic explosion effect
>> And of course do lots of testing for, umm... "Research" purposes!"
If anyone has any questions or touble, follow the TROUBLESHOOTING advice, but also feel free to post in this forum for help as well!

Ok i'll have to come up with a new solution for how to show people how to mod as the wiki has vanished (presumably for good) and author uncontactable! Will make a video version of the "your first mod" in the next few days if possible so people can keep seeing how its done. I'm also working on a code checker for the XTBL files to tell you about all the errors i can think that it can tell you all about.

Back up soon.
I've locked it (403'd) until I'm done fixing it. It'll be done when I've got some time; dunno when that will be.
