Hello.

Today when i am working with my map i just probably tap some hotkey and after that all my brushes are invisible in 3d window.
All edges are still in other views and also map builds well. Just some way brushes are hidden so during saving editor inform me that all obiects are outside the level ect.
When i am switch view to "Render Everything" than i can see all brushes in 3d view properly but for example in texture mode surfaces cannot be highlighting so still something wrong.
Like i said i am pretty sure its some hot key feature but i cannot find it in help file :/.

Anybody knows wheres the problem?

You could try pressing ctrl+H to unhide all the brushes in case you've hidden them all (by pressing H)...

Not sure if that's what happened though.

Do what Digi said press " Shift + H " (no +) or " Shift + Ctrl " (both work) to unlock any brushes.

Your camera might be lost in black space, press " Home " on your keyboard to teleport your camera to the little green start dude.

If nothing changes, press " Shift + Q " (no +) that will unlock any locked brush's.


Edit: A possible screen shot of the editor might be nice.

This is not Ctrl+H cause - when i using it all visible obiects are disappears (brushes, models, ect.). So i leave it off.
Ctrl+Q made no changes at all (no visible changes for me) - i am also leave it off.

Here are some screens:

1. After building view (brushes in views but any of it on 3d:

2. When i switch to texture mode then i could see brushes edges:

3. Finaly screen after i change rendering from "like in game" to "Everything" surfaces are visible also with lightings:

i found another strange thing.
When i open editor and my map for a first time sometimes I could use Build/Lightings/Save/Pack and... its working excellent.
But if i try ones more on this session - after Build -> screen 1. :/ and saving errors.

ps. saving map as group and load to new file - doesnt help :/.

The "invisible brushes" would likely be caused by "Render Nothing" as ice stated, but if you can't select them - you locked them.

Selecting brushes and hitting "Q" locks them.
To unlock all brushes, press "Shift+Q."

I am never use "Render Nothing". So its not that problem.
Map is running with default "Like in-game" rendering. I must switch to "Everything" to only way i could see brushes in 3d view but even then during saving i have info of outsiding objects.
So its not rendering problem i thing. There is some brushes issue.

Q/Shift+Q - i am keeping it off. Brushes are avalible all the time.

The only other thing I can think of is maybe some severe layering issues are present. If you want to email me the map (email in my profile) I'll be able to help you.

Alright I've sent you the fixed file.

As I suspected, some really dumb severe layering issues were causing the issue. After a considerable amount of testing with RED bugs and other causes that are known to me, I determined that to fix the issue, you had to select the bottom-most air brushes of the "silos" and "End of Time" them. I suspect there was some weird intersections going on between the bottom-most and mid air brushes in the silos. I've seen similar problems before, but there's no real way to pinpoint the exact cause, and they're not very common.

In regards to the map itself, I think it's got promise - and it's VERY well-made. Seems like the layout would be more suiting to a single player map than multi though - that's just my opinion though.

Also your mapping seems rather nice and clean for a new mapper. Which other games have you mapped for? I'm assuming some sort of src or goldsrc game based on the way you used groups in RED. What other work have you done in other games? Links?

Your solution its quite complicated for my understanding english so could you describe in few simple words? :) :
1. Whats for "end on time" button?
2. How you in principle fix up my problem?

Regarding my mapping experience :).

I am not exacly begining mapper - seriously i started right after game release, 2001 :).
You could find some of my maps on web from my previous activity (2001-2004). Mostly i proud of my dm/ctf MARS series maps. There was time when i havent got skills but many ideas for design ;).
Here in Poland i was realy active person regarding RF (oficial website admin, tournaments organizer, RED tutorials maker, local clans player ant many other).

Now i am just turning back to work more with RED after studying helps and more understanding that editor. RF was my first love and i cannot leave it longer than half year :). This forum i found just accidently searching for dx8 problem solutions :). I hope to finaly build up one light, well made and universal level with all posible solutions tested.

Oh, you asked about other game activities. I am just studying Hammer for HL2dm, DarkRadiant for DarkMod(based on Thief game mod) and thats all. Any serious job done - lack of time for so much "nolife" tool as game editors are :).
