I've been hooked on the idea of playing Red Faction through a Google Cardboard and did it recently with TrinusVR.
The setup goes like this:
-TrinusVR server running on PC streaming the game play to my phone's display as two identical images and receiving gyroscope movement as mouse input
-Phone is running TrinusVR and receiving the stream over WiFI
-Phone is in a ColorCross (plastic headset with 2 lenses)
The problems are this:
-Not a true stereoscopic 3D rendering for both eyes
-Low quality stream (not my main concern)
Things I've tried for fixing the stereoscopic 3d issue on the PC side:
-TriDef 3D/Tridef Ignition -- It only supports DX9/10/11 games, and RF still seems to run as DX8
-Vierio Perception -- I cannot figure this app out at all so far, but will put in some more time with it.
tl;dr I played RF with a VR headset, it was pretty fun, but it's not real VR 3d =/
Would anyone happen to have any ideas or experience with something like this?
So I actually ran across that wrapper but I was out of my depth, or tired as can be and couldn't achieve the 3d with Tridef with it. I'll be spending a lot of time with it tonight.
